A close friend of Angelina and Brad told US Weekly Reports that they turned to In Vitro fertilization to conceive twins.
IVF is a method of assisted reproduction, a man's sperm and the woman's egg are combined in a laboratory dish, where fertilization occurs. The resulting embryo is then transferred to the woman's uterus (womb) to implant and develop naturally. Usually, 2-4 embryos are placed in the woman's uterus at one time. Each attempt is called a cycle. One cycle of IVF costs an average of $12,400.

A source close to the couple told the magazine that "they both desperately wanted more babies soon," and says that the actress, 33, chose the $12,000 procedure so "she wouldn't have to deal with the stress of trying to get pregnant. She could just knock it out."
Angelina Jolie successfully gave birth with the fraternal twins, Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon, last July 12, 2008 in France.
